Changed the stands of Munsu Stadium 'Including Red'...home fan backlash

Blog Article

It has been confirmed that some of the old spectators at Munsu Football Stadium, which is used as the home stadium of Ulsan HD FC, will eventually be replaced with red, which includes the color of its rival Pohang Steelers.

Citizens and soccer fans are strongly protesting against the idea of putting political colors on sports.

Reporter Kim Gye-ae reports.

The spectators' seats on the third floor of Munsu Football Stadium began construction in earnest from mid-December last year.

It's the first time that it's been completely demolished since its opening.

However, unlike the first and second floors, which were replaced with blue, the team color of Ulsan HD, which uses Munsu Stadium as its home, the gradation design was applied from blue to red as it went up.

[Ulsan Facilities Management Corporation official/voice modulation: "If you use one color, it's a bit bland. The red color is not political, but red and blue stands out."]

The red color symbolizes Pohang, a rival club, and reminds of a specific political party, and more than 5,000 citizens and fans signed against it last year, but it was pushed forward as it is.

In the Ulsan HD fan community, there were posts urging collective action, and in front of Ulsan City Hall, a protest truck appeared against the color change of the stands.

Opposition members of the Ulsan City Council also condemned the administration, calling it a "blind administration" that moves without dialogue or communication with citizens.

[Son Keun-ho/Ulsan City Council member: "Of course, Ulsan HD FC home fans are Ulsan citizens. If you truly are the head of Ulsan City for Ulsan citizens, you should listen to them and actively reflect them."]

Meanwhile, Ulsan City explained that Munsu Stadium is a public sports facility, and it is not appropriate to make the entire audience blue for international matches such as national team warm-up matches. 안전놀이터
